Neowin, a reputable publication, has unveiled comparative test results for the Windows 10 and Windows 11 operating systems on a platform powered by the Intel Core i9-14900K processor.

Meticulously conducting the tests on a PC, they used a system featuring an ASUS ROG STRIX Z790-H GAMING WIFI motherboard, paired with dual Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB DDR5-6000 RAM modules, each boasting a substantial 16 GB capacity. Additionally, the system featured an MSI GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Ventus 3X graphics card and a capacious 1 TB solid-state drive.

This comprehensive evaluation encompassed a side-by-side assessment of a pristine installation of Windows 10 Pro and 11 version 22621.2428 (Moment 4).

The initial tests, tailored to the specific graphics card configuration, included benchmarks such as Time Spy and Fire Strike Extreme. In both the overall score and graphical performance metrics, Windows 11 emerged as the clear victor.

Subsequently, the systems underwent rigorous testing in popular titles like Far Cry 6 and Shadow of the Tomb Raider to ascertain which of the two operating systems delivered superior FPS (Frames Per Second) metrics. They meticulously tested these games at default settings with a resolution of 5120 × 1440 pixels. Once again, Windows 11 proved triumphant, albeit with a modest disparity in gaming performance when assessing these two titles.

In the esteemed Cinebench 2024 benchmark, Windows 11 exhibited a notable advantage, accumulating an impressive lead of 38 points over Windows 10.

However, the scenario took a different turn in tests tailored to CPU performance. Notably, in the 3D Mark Time Spy benchmark, Windows 11 excelled in the overall score, but conversely, in CPU assessment, Win 10 showcased a lead by a substantial 430 points. They observed a comparable situation in the 3D Mark Fire Strike Extreme benchmark.

Intriguingly, the experiment’s authors revisited Far Cry 6 and Shadow of the Tomb Raider to corroborate if the CPU test outcomes paralleled real-world gaming performance, as demonstrated in the synthetic benchmarks. In the majority of instances, Windows 10 emerged as the victor, albeit with a mere one-point differential.

Additional tests further corroborated the notion that, more often than not, the distinctions between Windows 10 Pro and 11 Moment 4 were modest in scope.
